The Dish Network first went on the air with satellite television broadcasting about a decade ago. Today, the Dish Network is a major supplier of affordable high-quality digital television programming.

If you want to watch the Dish Network transmissions, you will have several choices of programming packages. The minimum package is their compilation of the top 60 channels in the country (without any local channels included). Apart from this basic package, you can choose other packages that contain more channels, up to a maximum of 180 channels. There are packages that include Latino programming. Their most popular package has at least 120 channels included.

Some packages may now include local channels. The local channels will depend on where you are. The way it works is that the local channels are beamed off the satellite along with the rest of their regular programming, but are blocked out of all regions except their own local broadcast area. So if you're in Atlanta, you can only receive the network Atlanta programs, not those of other cities.

The affordability of the Dish Network monthly subscriptions is really their strong point. You'll find that the most expensive package costs only two-and-a-half times the minimum, but contains at least three times the number of channels.

You will appreciate the low start-up cost to get connected to the Dish Network. You have two options on this. In the first option, you buy the digital television receiver and associated accessories from the company. However, you get credits every month for a period up to two years, until you recover the initial cost. You can have two televisions connected.

Your other option is to pay an activation fee and have up to four connections for free. On your first bill, you will get full credit on the activation fee, thus activation fee becomes free.
