The Delta Queen Steamboat Company is the oldest cruise shipping line that operates under an American flag, one of only two cruise lines with that distinction. The flag is important because the authority granted to the Delta Queen Steamboat covers the right to sail from one domestic port to another without having to go outside territorial waters. The Delta Queen Steamboat Company's origins began in 1890.
