Basically, Sylvania circuit breakers are used as a mechanical switch device for circuits. They are installed as a part of the electric circuit and function like a switch to turn the circuit on and off when you need to. Sylvania circuit breakers are also designed to open circuits automatically during cases of current overload.

Although they have similar functions, there are several types of Sylvania circuit breaker that are used for different types of facilities. Low voltage Sylvania and square d circuit breakers are commonly used for commercial and domestic applications while high voltage circuit breakers are usually seen in industrial facilities.

A regular home requires several circuits for its electrical supply to different portions of the house. The lights and convenience power outlets can have separate circuits and can be connected to separate circuit breaker panels. In cases of power overload, the circuit breaker protects the circuit by automatically cutting off the supply of electricity to the circuit.

Most households have only one main breaker panel followed by smaller circuit breaker panels. The breaker panels contain all the single-pole and two-pole circuit breakers for the house. Single-pole breakers allow a maximum of 120 volts while two-pole circuit breakers can handle up to 240 volts. It is a requirement for the main breaker to have a main disconnect switch for safety.

When installing a Sylvania circuit breaker, make sure that your power source is turned off. Breaker installation is very simple. It involves feeding the cable into the breaker panel, connecting the ground wire, neutral wire, and power wire to the breaker before snapping it into place.

Sylvania circuit breakers easily snap into breaker panels. Electricity however, flows to the circuit through large metal strips called bus bars. Thus, even if the breaker switch is off, the bus bars are still live wire and dangerous to touch.

Sylvania circuit breakers are contained in circuit breaker panels and are usually arranged in two columns although bigger breaker panels can have up to three columns of breakers.

While it may help to know how your electrical devices work, it is not advisable for you to attempt to assemble or fix your own electrical equipment. Always let a professional do the work for you.
