Document scanning is the process of converting graphics or text from paper into digital formats. Some scanners even convert microfilm, slides or photos.

It saves a person time and labor as one does not need to stand in front of the equipment at all times while scanning being performed.

A flatbed scanner can be used to scan images of books or large-sized documents. Documents are placed on top of the glass top of the scanner face down. Documents are scanned in the normal way that a typical scanner works.

An ADF Flatbed Scanner allows one to scan large sized documents and also multiple documents. It is most convenient for those that need to scan documents of different sizes as it has the combination of the functions of both a document feed scanner and a flatbed scanner.
