In order to eliminate common airborne contaminants, you may want to consider investing in a high-quality air purification system.
When sizing up air purifiers, you should check the clean air delivery rate (CADR) rating, which is the industry standard that indicates how well purifiers remove contaminants from air. You will see three CADR numbers, one each for smoke, pollen and dust. Higher numbers mean better ability to clean air. For pollen and smoke, the maximum number is 450; for dust, it’s 400.
You will find five basic technologies in purifiers: simple filters, also called air cleaners, installed as part of your heating or cooling system; ultraviolet radiation systems, like Flair air purifier; high efficiency particulate air filtration systems, like Austin air purifiers; ionizing purifiers, such as Friedrich air purifier and Oreck air purifiers; and, ozone generators.
The ultraviolet radiation system used in Flair air purifier makes micro-organisms sterile and thus renders them harmless. Flair air purifier uses ultraviolet light to sterilize the air that passes through the purifier system, effectively rendering bacteria and viruses inutile.
However, eliminating bacteria and viruses is not enough for your air quality needs, since particulates are also responsible for health problems associated with air contamination. Flair air purifier thus combines other technologies, such as ozone and filtration, to deliver more complete purification action.
You should also think about reducing the contaminants at the source. If molds are a problem, clean up the moldy areas. Practice regular vacuuming and cleaning which removes large quantities of dust. You can restrict pets to certain areas to reduce pet dander inside the house. If there is too much cigarette smoke, consider smoking outside.
To dilute the air concentration in your house, open the windows as often as possible. The influx of fresh air into your home will sweep away some of the particulates suspended in the air inside.
