What are Psychics?

Psychics have the power to do certain things that are beyond the natural capacity of human beings. Their powers are also beyond the range of rational or scientific explanation. There are different types of psychic powers.

Clairvoyance is the ability to sense things which an ordinary person cannot. With this ability, you can see, feel, hear and even communicate with supernatural presences such as ghosts or angels. You can identify objects or images even if they are hidden from view. You can sense the events which had happened in a place, or how an event had occurred.

With telepathy, you can read minds and even influence others to behave in a certain or follow your commands with just your mental powers.

Psychokinesis is another type of psychic power wherein you can cause inanimate objects to move just by concentrating on them with your mind. Another term for this is "mind over matter."

Precognition is the ability to foretell events that have not even happened yet. You can predict what will happen to specific people or where they might happen, regardless of when. You can even predict events that might occur years from today.

Psychics in Today's World

Most cases of psychic powers are highly controversial because it is quite difficult to prove that they have powers. Many so-called psychics have been exposed as frauds.

However, psychics continue to mingle with society, and even offer their services. There are psychics reading tarot cards, tea leaves, rune stones and bodily features in order to predict your future. Psychic healers claim to heal diseases and maladies which modern medicine has deemed incurable. Psychics have been tapped by police to help locate lost objects or sense and reenact criminal activities, and to find out how a person was murdered. Throughout history, psychics such as Nostradamus and Jeanne Dixon have become famous because they presumably predicted future outcomes such as assassinations and major disasters.

Psychic services have come a long way from being just small sidewalk stands or obscure shops to using the latest computer technology. The crystal ball of old has been replaced with psychic chat online. Numerous psychic web sites offer services and advice to the public, some for a low fee. Some sites also offer lessons to help develop your psychic abilities, for a small fee.

There has been a growing interest in psychic powers. Nowadays, some universities even offer Parapsychology which studies psychics and other supernatural phenomena. Whether psychic powers do exist and are effective is highly debatable, and mostly up to your own personal beliefs.
