An emergency response system is a seamless integration of many components targeted to deliver immediate medical attention during an emergency.
The first and most important element of a medical response system is the personal emergency response device which you activate to set the emergency response system in motion. If you have an emergency response device, you do not have to call 911 and talk to a dispatcher. All you have to do is press the device button to activate a signal that notifies the monitoring center that you have an emergency.
SEAMLESS TEAMWORK
The monitoring and dispatch center is manned on a round the clock basis. Once the SOS signal is received, it is automatically matched to a central data base which pulls out your location and medical information. Usually when you avail of a personal emergency response, you will fill-out forms and provide a comprehensive medical history so that when an emergency occurs, the dispatcher can inform the response team of your medical condition and can then make the necessary preparations.
Once the signal has been received, the dispatcher will then plot where your signal is coming from and verify your location. The operator will then check which available emergency medical response team is the nearest to your location, verify their availability and location, and then make the necessary dispatch order. To ensure that help will arrive in the soonest possible time, a dispatch order is given to more than one emergency response team, and whoever arrives first will then dispense the emergency procedures as the situation warrants.
An emergency response system is designed to react to your medical problem and send out the appropriate emergency response unit within a few minutes of your distress call. In any medical situation, time is of the utmost importance. And sometimes the difference between saving a life and losing it is just a matter of seconds
