HOT TUB MUST-HAVES

Having a hot tub in the home is a luxury most people wish they could afford. However owning a hot tub is not as simple as buying the tub and installing it properly. Hot tubs require several additional devices to maintain the tub in tip-top shape and make it safe for home use.

Among the more important peripherals are hot tub filters, hot tub chemicals, hot tub covers and hot tub enclosures. Hot tub chemicals like bromine are added to the water to keep the water sanitized and clear. Some hot tub chemicals are necessary to keep the water in the tub odor and scum free, while other hot tub chemicals are added to keep the pH level at an acceptable level.

THE BARE ESSENTIALS

However, even with religious addition of hot tub chemicals, the water in your hot tubs should be drained and replaced after two to three months, more often if the hot tub is frequently used.

Hot tub filters catch particles and keep them away from the water and from the pump system. The hot tub filters sift the water of oils, scum and other harmful particles whose build-up may damage your hut tub mechanism and shorten its lifespan. The hot tub filters are regularly checked and cleaned of debris. In time, usually after a year the hot tub filters become worn and must be replaced.

Hot tub covers and enclosures are important especially if there are children in the house. The hot tub covers will prevent children from accidentally falling into the tub and drown. Of course the protection given by hot tub covers depends on the strength of the cover material and if the mechanism is child-proof. If you have kids, make sure that your hot tub covers are specially designed to keep kids safe.

When purchasing a hot tub, just keep in mind these bare essentials and your SPA experience should be as good as the real thing, maybe even better.
