Emergency situations are always present, and most of the times, they come to you unexpectedly. You might think of calling an ambulance to help you, but just as you thought that that would be easy, you suddenly realized that you’re stuck in the middle of nowhere!

Well, you need not despair, because an air ambulance is sure to come your way. An air ambulance is an aircraft that gives immediate medical assistance in times of emergency. It is being used as a better alternative to a road ambulance when assistance is needed quickly and when the site of the event cannot be reached easily.

You can usually find flight paramedics, a flight nurse and attending physicians inside an air ambulance. Pilots who have undergone intensive training and experience in flight matters are the ones who command air ambulance services. This is primarily because flying an air ambulance is much more difficult than flying commercial aircrafts.

What happens now when the air ambulance service suddenly received an emergency call?

When emergency strikes, the air ambulance will respond quickly to the person in need of assistance. Since the flight is not a commercial one, space in the aircraft is very limited. The team will include the flight paramedics, the pilot and one family member of the victim or patient.

Essential and vital medical equipment will always be present on the air ambulance.

Air ambulance services could either be privately or publicly owned. Private air ambulances are pretty expensive, therefore, there is a need for the traveler to coordinate with an insurance company. The insurance company will be the one that will deal with the air ambulance service regarding better rates.

On the other hand, publicly - owned air ambulances are being offered by government agencies to travelers for free. However, as compared to private air ambulances, public air ambulances only travel to a shorter distance and oftentimes, a helicopter is being used.

Now, isn’t it good to hear that there’s always a friend ready to fly to rescue you? Thanks to the air ambulance!
