With millions of credit card-savvy merchants worldwide, you may be surprised to know that there are places and reasons for you to go liquid. Credit card acceptance is often dependent on two things: the merchant’s credit card acceptance—whether the merchant has a card machine and if the card machine is working, and the status of your card—if you have available credit and your card is working. Here are some ways to avoid being embarrassed by a declined credit card, and the lack of cash that sometimes goes with it.
Search for the Logo
Every credit card has a corresponding mother logo such that disney visa card and visa gift cards are accepted where you see the visa logo. You can use your card in an establishment where you see the logo similar to the one in the face of your card. If you do not see your card’s logo in the front door, in the cashier, or anywhere in the store, they are probably not accepting cards or their credit card acceptance is limited.
Ask the Merchant
Credit card acceptance will vary from one merchant to another. Do not assume your credit card acceptance just because you see a citi visa card or chase visa cards logo in the front door. Ask the merchant if your credit card is welcome in the shop. If they say yes, then go swiping away.
Check Your Card
Sometimes, the merchant is not the problem; it is your card. Your credit card acceptance may not work if you have reached the maximum allowable credit of your card, or if you have unpaid balances. Check this information before using your card.
Have Cash
Even if you have ten credit cards, always carry some cash with you. If you are declined in using your card, you can use your cash to save your face from the embarrassment and save yourself from missing out on the stuff you want to buy.
