When you want to go on holiday, a Crested Butte vacation would be a cool choice. You can say cool, because Crested Butte vacations offer skiing during winter and plenty of horse riding, mountain biking or just plain walking in warmer weather.

If you take a Crested Butte vacation, you’ll end up seeing for yourself the town that guidebooks say may be the state’s best-kept secret. With two winter storm tracks overlapping in the area, you are sure to have outstanding snow. Skiing opportunities are abundant, even if you are just a beginner.

Just so you don’t lose your way, be aware there are actually two separate communities by the name: the modern resort village of Mt. Crested Butte and the old mining town of Crested Butte. The old town is a national historic district; the modern town is where you can find Crested Butte vacation rentals and Crested Butte lodgings that are near the ski slopes. But if you stay in the old town, you’ll get free transportation to the slopes, about 3 miles away.

Most rental missoula are for university students closely watching their budgets, but Crested Butte vacation rentals are for vacationers with more cash to spend. Rental rates are highest in ski season and lowest after skiing closes and before summer.

If you’re not really into downhill skiing, there are more things you (and the family) can do. You could go snowshoeing, sledding, snowboarding or ice skating. Perhaps you are up to a leisurely cross-country ski romp across trails or backcountry areas.

In the summer, if you just want to view the mountain scenery without effort, you don’t have to worry because the ski lifts continue to run even though the snow’s gone. You also have many areas in the national forest for camping and other outdoor activities.
