If you are buying life insurance on line or through an insurance agent, there is a good change that you would need to undergo a medical exam. This is especially true if you are older and you are planning to purchase an insurance policy that is very expensive. If you are young and you are applying for a standard, cheaper life insurance policy, your insurance company may not require you to undergo a medical exam.

Buying life insurance on line does not exempt you from a medical exam. You can request for insurance quotes on line but before purchasing your policy, the insurance carrier can send a licensed medical professional to do a medical exam. Your insurance company will call you to setup an appointment for a medical exam. They will even visit your home or office. If you are unable to set an appointment, you have the option to visit one of the clinics endorsed by your insurance company. Without completing your medical exam, you insurance policy application would not be approved.

One of the most important things you have to remember when getting life insurance is that you have to be as truthful as possible when declaring your health history and illnesses. Insurance companies have access to a central medical database which stores your health records. They can verify your information just by checking the database. Your life insurance policy may also be revoked or higher premiums imposed if the insurance carrier finds out that you have provided falsified information.

There are two parts of the medical exam. If you have applied for life insurance on line, the first part is the medical questionnaire you have to fill out before they provide you with an online quote. The first part may also be conducted by your agent. The second part of the medical exam is the one completed by a medical professional or a physician.
