If you or any of your family members are suffering from allergies caused by air pollution inside your home, it is probably the best time for you to buy an air purifier. Air purifiers are effective tools to clean your indoor air albeit with some limitations.

Note that an air purifier, like a Friedrich C 90A air purifier cannot cover the area of your whole house. But since these are portable air cleaners, you can transfer them from one room to another. And if there are a number of rooms which need air cleaning simultaneously, you may need to buy more than one air purifier.

If you choose to purchase Friedrich C 90A air purifiers, these are electronic air cleaners which are also referred to as electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) because they operate with an electrostatic charge. Electronic air purifiers are more efficient than conventional mechanical filters because they are able to capture small particulates, including pollen and cigarette smoke particles.

The Friedrich C 90A air purifier consists of ionizing and collecting parts arranged sequentially or combined in a single stage. When the unit operates, the air passes between parallel plates where equally spaced wires serve as high-voltage electrodes. The specially designed collector plates downstream of the wires have opposite electrical charges, which serve to attract the electrically charged dust particles.

When the collector plates of Friedrich C 90A air purifier are loaded with dust, you will hear a sound like a bug zapper. You have to clean the plates to maintain its efficiency. Depending on the quality of your indoor air, this cleaning may be done frequently since electronic filters collect more dirt than conventional filters. Be aware that an electronic air purifier may produce ozone (which can be a lung irritant) if the unit is not properly maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s directions.
