An anxiety attack occurs when a person feels extremely anxious over certain situations that are considered traumatic or stressful. It can occur when a person is about to make a presentation, appear for a job interview, when encountering personal problems, situations at work, when taking an exam, or in other situations wherein people are unable to take control of a situation.
The way anxiety attacks symptoms appear in each person differ depending on how the person reacts to certain situations. Common anxiety attack symptoms can include: profuse sweating, dizziness, vomiting, breathing difficulties, stomach upsets and chills or hot flashes. Other individuals also experience electrical shock in some parts of the body, hyperactivity or having no energy at all, feeling exhausted, experiencing pain on the neck, shoulders, and the back. Frequent urination, blurry vision, itchy and watery eyes, increased heartbeats and muscle twitching are also sometimes categorized as part of anxiety attack symptoms. Others complain of frequent migraines or headaches, sharp pains in the face or head, temporary reduced hearing and ringing in the ears. Also associated with the symptoms of anxiety disorders is the increased need to consume food, or having decreased appetite and experiencing sleep problems. These sleep problems can include suddenly waking up from a sound sleep, waking up with a panicked feeling and difficulty in going to sleep.
Emotionally, a person that experience anxiety attack symptoms have mood swings, cries for no apparent reason, or have a feeling of wrongdoing. People also become scared of dying, appearing in public, going crazy, losing control, feeling helpless or overwhelmed and feeling claustrophobic. Some individuals also experience thinking over situations repetitively. Often, symptoms of depression are also known to be included with anxiety attack symptoms.
There are other symptoms for anxiety attacks depending on the kind of anxiety attack that you experience. An anxiety attack is considered as one type of this disorder. Other types include panic attacks/disorders, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, separation anxiety and phobias.
