As you peruse your LSAT information prior to taking the law school aptitude test, you may be wondering what will happen after law school and where you will find lawyer's jobs.

It should comfort you to know that a person with a law degree is very much in demand. You'll find lawyers practicing law in any occupational area and in big cities or small towns. The flexibility of a law degree is one reason it is so sought after. In addition to traditional law practice, you will find lawyers in a variety of occupations, such as business, medicine, and non-profit organizations.

Most lawyers specialize in particular types of law within these general areas. If you prefer to be in private practice, you may concentrate in civil law, where you will be involved in litigation, in making wills and trusts, or in preparing contracts and mortgages. You'll see many lawyers in the directory of attorneys of investment firms. You'll also find lawyers specializing in tax issues and getting handsomely paid for helping corporations prepare accurate tax returns.

At the federal level, you'll find attorneys in the justice department or other agencies. You'll see other lawyers in the attorney listings of legal aid societies, which are non-profit organizations that help disadvantaged people sort out their problems in civil cases. You'll find lawyers who have matured in wisdom and demeanor serving as judges.

Law is a lucrative profession. Note, however, that it's essential that you choose a law school carefully: it can be an important determinant of your future success as a lawyer.
