You may not have thought about it but as you lie in bed to get some sleep, you spend at least a quarter each day to be in direct contact with your bed. You breathe into your lungs and absorb through your skin the substances that your bed is made of. Thus, if you are concerned about living a healthful life, you may need to replace or choose a bed (including its mattress) that uses no synthetic materials.
When you shop for a healthy bed, make sure that the mattress is made of natural materials. The mattress should contain no synthetic foam, no fire retardants, no moth-proofing and no glues. If you don’t want a mattress with metal springs in it, you can select a natural latex mattress.
A natural latex mattress does not contain any petrochemical-derived polyurethane foam but uses only natural rubber latex foam. Natural latex is a milky fluid extracted from a tropical rubber tree; so when you purchase a natural latex mattress, you are sure that your mattress is made from environmentally-friendly materials.
If you use a natural latex mattress or a magnetic mattress, you will find out that it provides a high level of comfort and support as the foam conforms to your body’s curves and pressure points. A natural latex mattress is also known to last at least twenty years without substantial decline in its resilience. Natural latex mattresses can absorb and dispel moisture without supporting mold or mildew growth which makes it healthier to use.
You should expect to pay more for a natural latex mattress. But if you figure in the lifetime costs associated both with supporting and not supporting your health every single night in a positive way, and compare them, you may find that paying a higher price for a natural latex mattress is worth the cost.
