When limited amounts of oxygen are breathed into the body, a higher concentration of blood cells and hemoglobin are produced. This only occurs when oxygen is inhaled for a certain number of hours each day from a certain altitude. The inhalation of oxygen causes an athlete’s muscles to perform better in sporting events even weeks after the altitude training is performed.
