Internet dial up services still remains a popular choice for accessing the Internet. It has withstood the onslaught of faster, more robust services like DSL and wifi simply because a dial up service is more accessible to a wider number of people.

The premise is simple, if you have a landline and a modem, then you have access to Internet dial up services. There are two ways to avail of Internet dial up services, one is to subscribe to a service provider and pay for the services after you have used them. The amount you will pay depends on the service plan you have subscribed to; although the trend nowadays is to pay for a flat fee regardless of how much Internet you use.

PREPAID DIAL-UP

The other type of Internet dial up services involves a pre paid arrangement. Under this type of service, you will get an Internet dial up pre paid card that has a preloaded value that ranges from one hour to fifty hours, depending on the service provider. Usually, the card is valid for a specific period of time; if you fail to use the entire preloaded value after the time period, then the value left will be void. Once you have used up the entire value of the card, you can buy a new one, as the need arises.

The good thing about Internet dial up services is the reach of its services. Access is only limited by the presence of a phone line and a modem. It can provide Internet services where DSL and wifi cannot go. The only limitation is that using Internet dial up services ties up your phone lines and you will not be able to receive or make calls. Moreover, the speed of an Internet dial up service is considerable slower than with DSL or wifi.
