( Charity )

When making a charity donation to your local church, there are several guidelines you have to follow with respect to local laws and guidelines of the local distribution network. Most of the charities work with churches, schools and other service groups. They appreciate any kind of charity donation, but these organizations do not have enough time and money at their disposal to repair, wash or fix the items that have been donated. So when you are donating to charities, it is a good idea to keep a few things in mind.

If you have an item that needs intensive repair and you think it is not worth your time and effort to fix, chances are the charity will not be able to use the said item as well. When donating books or other reading material, make sure the books do not have torn pages or water damage. You should also donate books that are less than a decade old. The material inside older books may no longer be true or relevant.

A charity donation in the form of new and slightly-used clothing is common. Before you donate your clothes, make sure all the buttons and zippers are present and working. Do not donate clothes that are stained, torn or mildewed. Cosmetics and basic toiletries should be new and sealed.

Most charitable organizations also do not accept items that have held gasoline or any type of flammable material. Items containing mercury or any type or radioactive material are not accepted as well. When donating toys, make sure all parts are complete and working. Weapons regardless if they are real or only toys are generally not accepted.

When donating to charities, food is widely accepted. You may want to stick to the basics like rice, noodles and canned goods. You can also make a cash donation straight to the charitable institution.
