Ironically, a funeral arrangement can bring family members together. This is quite a voluntary arrangement for the family members who may be miles apart to come together, to condole with each other, to offer a helping hand, and to remember the repose of a loved one. To have a funeral arrangement is not as easy as one would think. It takes a lot of sensitivity to handle this funeral arrangement.

There are many things to consider while considering a funeral arrangement. First and foremost, a funeral director should guide the bereaved family of the processes involved in a funeral arrangement. It is not only about taking the dead body to a funeral parlor and leaving it in a casket. The opinions of all the members of the family should be considered. What kind of funeral arrangement do they want? Do you want a long one or a short one? If the dead person was still working at the time, there may be a company voluntary arrangement. The family would be lucky to have this. If this is not the case, the company may just offer flowers arrangement or a funeral flower arrangement. The family ought to be gracious and thankful for this though.

The next to be considered is what kind of casket will the dead person be put in? Will it be an elaborate one or a very simple one? Will it be a casket or an urn?

Then, at the funeral service, who will speak for and about the dead person? Will it be the spouse, parent, son, daughter, close friend, employer, priest, or anybody close to the departed? If the priest were to speak, what kind of priest will it be? Consider the religion of the departed. Will the minister, church leader, layman, priest, pastor, or whoever heads the religious group of the departed speak at the funeral arrangement?

What kind of funeral arrangement is appropriate for the departed? Will it be a solemn one where everybody is required to wear the appropriate attire? Or will it be a joyful one to celebrate the passing of the departed? The family has to decide if there will be happy music or somber music. It has also to be decided if the funeral arrangement will reflect the culture of the departed with various ceremonies included.

If the budget is tight, the family will have to decide if there will even be a funeral arrangement at all. This is a voluntary arrangement. There should not be any regrets after all the frenzy has been settled.

However, the funeral director will be on hand to take the family through the steps. From such paper works as documents needing signatures, fixing the death certificates and informing the government about the death, publishing the obituary in the newspaper, choosing the funeral lot and even the funeral flower arrangement or flowers arrangement.
