As human resources practices are advancing, companies are finding out the importance of employee satisfaction surveys. Being constantly in touch with the employees of a company and recognizing their needs and concerns means that management cares for the well-being of every individual. As long as employees are satisfied in a company, then there is lower turnover and everyone is generally more productive.

The need for employee satisfaction surveys can be triggered by several factors including a high turnover or absenteeism rate, rapid changes within the company or the industry, organizational changes and proposed modifications for salary and benefits of employees. Sometimes, employee satisfaction surveys can just be a means of receiving feedback and implementing changes based on the issues of the majority.

The next step is determining how the surveys will be conducted. It has been proven that if most of the company is connected to the Internet, then an online survey will draw the most number of responses, compared to a pen and paper approach.

You need to inform employees ahead of time that a survey will be sent out and that they can complete this during company time. You can also send out regular reminders over the course of a couple of weeks to remind everyone to submit the completed survey forms. An employee reward program can also be implemented to motivate employees to partake in the survey and provide their most honest and timely responses.

Once you receive all the results, it is also critical to share the responses with employees, usually through statistical or quantifiable data. You also need to provide employees with the action points of management in targeting and addressing the most pressing concerns that were determined through the survey. These should be doable goals with accurate timelines to show employees that there was an end goal and purpose to the survey that they answered.
