Internet dial up services have gone a long way. Nowadays, a dial up internet service provider is able to provide a more affordable and more reliable way to connect to the Internet. High speed dial up internet is now available wherever there is a landline, computer, and moden.

In the face of faster Internet connections like DSL and WiFI, Internet dial up services still remain popular because it is more affordable and is accessible to a greater number of people. While DSL and WiFI are considerably faster, they are limited in terms of range. The architecture has not yet been laid down to provide broadband anywhere. This is where high speed dial up Internet has an advantage over the newer Internet protocols; high speed dial up internet is available anywhere as long as you have a phone system.

BACK-UP SERVICES

High speed dial up internet services make use of the existing telephone infrastructure to provide online connectivity. The downside is that internet dial up services are very slow, and cannot handle all the content that most websites provide. As the Internet becomes more and more complex, high speed dial up internet is still not fast enough to provide streaming media and voice over IP services.

In the urban areas where DSL and WiFI connections are readily available, high speed dial up internet is used as a back up Internet connection service. When the broadband connection fails, the internet dial up services takes their place. This back up service is meant to provide basic connectivity until the broadband connection has been reestablished.

In the final analysis, while high speed dial up internet is far reaching, it is very limited in terms of speed. Whether high speed dial up internet will still be relevant in the next coming years depends on how much it can improve as far as speed is concerned.
