The Ozarka Natural Spring Water Company was first established in the town of Eureka Springs, Arkansas in 1905. So named because Eureka Springs is located in the Ozark Mountains, the water has enjoyed both a mystical and a fascinating history.
Even before Ozarka Water started being bottled, it was known for a fact that the source, which is currently named Basin Spring, was thought of as holy ground. For a long time, Indian tribes would visit Basin Spring for its ability to heal. Notably, there is one Sioux legend of how a blind princess was able to gain back her eyesight after she cleansed her eyes with the water.
In 1856, a Dr. Alyah Jackson claimed that his son’s eyes were remedied when he used the spring water on them. Dr. Jackson then used the same water to care for soldiers during the Civil War, and, after that, began to bottle the water of Basin Spring, selling it as “Dr. Johnson’s Eye Water.”
Launched in 1905, Ozarka Spring Water later became a part of Nestle Waters in 1987. At present, Ozarka Water is being distributed throughout the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Louisiana, as well as in some parts of Tennessee, Missouri and Kansas. Nowadays, it takes its supply from several East Texan springs, rather than from the town of Eureka Springs. Because most of the rocks in these springs are made up of silica, and because silica takes a long time to dissolve, Ozarka Water is considered to have a low mineral content in relation to other bottled waters.
Ozarka Spring Water is packaged in plastic containers that are both recyclable and tamper-evident. For customer convenience, Ozarka bottled water comes in different sizes, and can be bought either individually, in packs, or in cases. These sizes can vary from a half pint to a gallon. They can come as sport-packs or dispenser bottles. Moreover, Ozarka Water can also be delivered to homes and offices. For those that don’t enjoy natural spring water, Ozarka is also available as distilled water and drinking water.
