Available Domain Name for Everybody

There is nothing sadder than setting up a website and finding out that your well-thought, internalized domain name of choice is no longer available. What's even more frustrating is to log on to that domain name and see that it contains some stuff that has no connection whatsoever to the domain name. What to do when yours in not an available domain name?

Several choices
To begin with, you must have several domain name choices even before you start setting up your website. You can go from three to 10 domain names, and list them according to your primacy of choice. When you begin signing up for a free website, you will be asked to type your chosen names. You will then be informed which among them is an available domain name. You get to pick from the list of available domain names taken from the choices you gave. If tehre are no available domain names i your choices, you will have to think of other names--until you hit an available domain name.

When you are signing up for a paid web space, you can usually work around changing the extension name instead of the domain name if your first choice is not available. If that fails, you will have to think of others and see if they are available domain names.

Reserve it
When your first-choice domain name is not available, you also have the option to register a domain name close to your primary choice, temporarily, and sign up for the waiting list in case the domain name you want suddenly becomes available. This is applicable for paid web spaces.

When you are already using your "temporary" web address and the domain name you like suddenly becomes free, you may also want to get a redirecting service instead of setting up a whole new website in another domain name. This way, you keep your former hits while getting new one.

Buy it
If you are impatient, and you know that your first-choice domain name spells success for you and your endeavor, you may also offer to buy the taken domain name. Buying a domain name may be more expensive than paying for an available domain name, but if you really like it then it is worthwhile.
