One of the greatest challenges to a number of industries is keeping track of employees’ attendance accurately. In fact, the technology of time and clocks continuously develop more sophisticated systems to solve problems concerning abuse of employee time clocks.

Manual time clocks using punch cards still work for some businesses especially those with a manageable number of employees. The thing with manual time and clocks system however, is that it is prone to human error and time theft. Not to mention that the process of computing your employees’ attendance can be very tedious and time-consuming.

The use of electronic time clocks thereby became popular to solve the dilemmas arising from a manual system. Electronic time clocks provide more accurate payroll data for employees and automatically compute an employee’s number of work hours.

An electronic time clock can be adjusted to calculate the actual or rounded work time of your employees. Break time can be automatically deducted from the total number of hours your employees attended. It can also be programmed to automatically adjust months, years, and change daylight-saving time.

One of the many problems in keeping track of employees’ attendance is buddy-punching, that is, someone else punching time for a friend. To solve this problem, biometric time clocks were created.

Biometric time and clocks systems eliminate buddy-punching problems by requiring the employees to be present to perform punching transactions. There are generally two types of biometric time clocks – the finger scan identification and the hand geometry identification technologies.

Biometric technologies combine accuracy and security by automatically calculating an employee’s number of work hours and making sure that time theft is not possible.

For any business, time means money. Hence, an efficient and reliable time and clocks system can be an important investment. Particularly so, if it means making sure you are not wasting precious resources on unutilized work-hours.
