Depressive disorders occur when there is a chemical imbalance in a person’s brain neurotransmitters. The neurotransmitters of a brain have many different functions that include the control of the movement of our muscles, the control of your emotions, memory, reflexes and motor behavior.

When a person is diagnosed with depression, psychotherapy is normally recommended before a doctor prescribes any medication. Antidepressant meds can sometimes prove to be fatal to the health of a patient. Doctors need to carefully monitor a patient’s condition prior to prescribing antidepressant drugs.

Antidepressant Effexor is a type of antidepressant medication that is used to treat long-term depression. Antidepressant Effexor is effective on people who have taken other antidepressant medications, but have not responded well to the said medication. Antidepressant Effexor can also used to treat adults suffering from panic disorders, social anxiety, generalized anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorders. Some doctors also use this drug to treat migraines and diabetic neuropathy.

Antidepressant Effexor is not recommended for treating people suffering from bipolar disorders as this can help promote severe forms of psychosis.

Similar to other antidepressant drugs, antidepressant Effexor should only be consumed with a full stomach. The medication is normally taken several times in a day. The recommended dosage will depend on your condition, and should only be taken for a number of weeks as prescribed by your doctor.

Like most antidepressant drugs, if more than the recommended dosage is consumed, antidepressant side effects will be experienced. Side effects can include nausea, vertigo, difficulty in sleeping and feeling easily exhausted. An irritable bowel syndrome is also experienced by some individuals along with dizziness. Other individuals also experience increased agitation, high blood pressure, profuse sweating and electric shock sensations in the brain.

Less common antidepressant side effects can include drowsiness, gas pains, difficulty with vision, seizures, swallowing problems and hair loss. Other people also experience allergic reactions, suicidal tendencies, psychosis, panic attacks and external bleeding.

It should be noted that once the doctor orders the patient to discontinue the usage of antidepressant effexor, it should be done gradually.
