DEVIANT CELLS
Malignant pleural mesothelioma refers to an abnormally excessive growth in the tissues lining the internal and external walls of the heart. The deviant cancer cells grow at markedly fast rates that it invades at attaches itself to neighboring cells. When it travels and spreads to other parts of the body, malignant pleural mesothelioma disrupts the normal functioning of the body to such an extent that it causes death.
This is the journey that every cancer cell takes within our body. When it can be caught early before it can spread to other parts of the body, there is a very high chance of killing the cancer and the cancer patient surviving the illness.
RACE AGAINST TIME
Malignant pleural mesothelioma has time as an ally. It is widely known that this type of cancer is a deadly result of chronic contact with asbestos. As with other illnesses related to asbestos exposure, malignant pleural mesothelioma has a very long latency period. This means that you may already have the illness early on, but it takes a long time before it rears its ugly head and manifests itself.
This characteristic of malignant pleural mesothelioma is the reason why most mesothelioma prognosis is not good or encouraging. By the time of diagnosis the malignancy has already metastasized or has taken root in other parts of the body. At this terminal stage, the cancer can no longer be held back and it will only be a matter of time before death ensues.
While time is the ally of malignant pleural mesothelioma, you can make it yours as well. You have the means to stop malignant pleural mesothelioma in its tracks by having yourself screened for the illness regularly and frequently. There is no other way around cancer; it has to be found and treated very early. Delaying for some time may make it too late.
