CAPTURED PRESENCE

Time punch refers to the system of capturing the times and dates that you have reported for work. Time punch is the act of informing the time and attendance system of your company that you came to work at these specific dates and times.

The term time punch came from the punch clock, which for a very long time was the standard time and attendance device used by companies all over the world. While there are still businesses and organizations using the punch clock, most modern companies have replaced the punch clock system with the more modern and more reliable biometric time punch system.

VITAL INFORMATION

The importance of time keeping and monitoring systems cannot be over emphasized. Your time punch is the proof of your work attendance and is the basis of your salary. Failure to do the time punch results to inaccurate attendance reports, you may be reported as absent on a given date, when you have in fact reported for work. Absences are not only deducted from your monthly pay, but may also be grounds for administrative sanctions, even termination.

The emergence of newer, more sophisticated time punch systems have made it virtually impossible for employees to time punch for one another. The old punch clock, while very reliable cannot differentiate one employee from another. All a punch clock does is stamp the time and date at the time card, regardless of who punched it in.

Nowadays, time cards are no longer used. To time punch, you will be required to input your fingerprint, voice, or retinal data into a biometric time capture system and then verify it with a security code. Once the system confirms the data, it will then capture the time and date when the input was gives. All the time and attendance data is stored in a central server, to be collated every payment cycle.
