It does not have to be summer for the body to feel uncomfortably hot. It is not really about the heat, but the humidity. Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. If the air is saturated with vapor, it cannot absorb anymore water; thus sweat cannot evaporate, and you feel very uncomfortable.

High humidity poses a lot of problems. Moist air encourages growth of bacteria, fungi, and the like. Humidity also causes breathing problems, which is why humidity monitoring, dehumidification, and air dehumidifiers have become viable business ventures.

HUNG OUT TO DRY

Dehumidification is the process of drying the air of moisture. It takes out the water content of the air and keeps it dry and unsaturated. Aside from creating a more welcoming climate, dehumidification also removes harmful organisms that that find home in moist air which causes a number of ailments.

Air dehumidifiers make use of humidity monitoring to measure the moisture in the existing air. You can change the settings and program these air dehumidifiers to start drying the air once moisture reaches a certain level.

The moisture the dehumidification process absorbs is drained through a collection system, often made of tubes and buckets. Prices of commercial dehumidifiers depend on the size of the collection system because it is the limiting factor to how much dehumidification can take place. When the draining system is full, it must first be emptied before dehumidification can once again take place.

An example of a commercial dehumidifier is the air conditioner. Air conditioners act as air dehumidifiers because they must first dry and then cool the air. In this sense, central air conditioners are also whole house dehumidifiers.

Air dehumidifiers are of two general types: the desiccant and the refrigerant. The refrigerant type is the most common ones used in households.
