COMPULSORY INSURANCE

The very nature of cars renders them very prone to accidents. That is why our government mandates every vehicle owner to have car insurance coverage. In fact, auto insurance coverage is the only insurance that is required by the law and is not an option for car owners and buyers.

A car insurance coverage is not by all means cheap. It can be expensive, especially if you want full coverage auto insurance which covers you and your vehicle for all contingencies. Auto insurance coverage is of many types. They range from the most basic to the most extensive. You can choose to get basic or full coverage auto insurance, or have something in between.

WHAT IS BEING COVERED?

The following are the types of car insurance coverage that you can mix and match to suit your needs and budget:

Medical coverage – shoulders the cost of medical treatment if the injury was caused by a vehicular accident. This car insurance coverage pays for treatment regardless of which party is at fault.

Collision coverage – depending on the collision damage, auto insurance coverage pays for the repair or replacement of your car. This basic coverage is specific only to car accidents and collision. It will not pay for damages incurred in other ways.

Comprehensive coverage – covers damages sustained by the vehicle in other ways. This includes theft and vandalism, and natural disasters like flood and fire.

Bodily/Physical injury liability – shoulders legal costs and damage payments when your vehicle causes injury or death to a person; or if the accident damages someone else’s property.

Car insurance coverage plans will include some or most of these coverages. You can opt to get a pre-packaged car policy, design your own auto insurance coverage plan, or get the works and buy full coverage auto insurance which has all of these features and more.
