It has been said that the packaging is just as important as the content. This may not be applicable in all situations but it definitely rings true for greeting cards. If you are the recipient of a greeting card, you wouldn’t want to open those which are enclosed in plain and boring white envelopes. Even black envelopes are more interesting than white envelopes simply because black envelopes are sleek and elegant. The monochrome envelope has upgraded to the colored envelope with the passage of time, and so the envelopes of the world have been steadily becoming more interesting. But there is one type of envelope that tops all the others – printed envelopes.

Probably the most interesting type of envelope is printed envelopes. Printed envelopes have a lot of qualities that the simple envelopes of old lacked. The prints would give this type of envelope a certain feel, depending on the nature of the print or the design. Flowers would give printed envelopes a soft and feminine effect. Other prints would make the envelope look fun and exciting or playful and cute. Printed envelopes can also indicate the content of the letter simply through the prints. A Santa print would mean that it is a Christmas card. A Jack-o-pumpkin print would mean that it is a Halloween card, and a Cake would mean that a Birthday card could be found inside.

It is really amazing. Manufacturers would go really far just to try and make the envelopes they make more interesting. They would use different materials for the envelope like polythene and vellum. Polythene envelopes and Vellum envelopes are really pleasing to touch and give the letter or the card a sense of uniqueness.

So, the next time you buy a card or stationery, make sure that the envelope is interesting. Choose printed envelopes or colored envelope with great designs which are sure to catch the eye of the recipient. Remember, the packaging is just as important as the content when it comes to greeting cards.
