Sprinkler system installations are widely used for residential and commercial functions. Businesses especially in multi-story facilities often install sprinkler systems for fire protection and chemical safety. Sprinkler systems for residential applications, on the other hand, are usually used for lawn irrigation.

Sprinkler installations should always be done by professionals. Sprinkler installers are responsible for planning, testing, and repairing your sprinkler system installation.

For fire safety sprinkler systems, sprinkler installers are in-charge of installing water, chemicals, carbon dioxide and even foam for fire protection. They are also capable of taking pressure reading to detect leaky systems.

Meanwhile, there are two kinds of sprinkler heads for lawn irrigation systems – the spray and rotor head types. Some spray lawn sprinkler heads pop out of the ground when activated while others simply remain above ground at all times. Sprinkler systems with spray heads discharge large volumes of water in a short period of time and are thus advisable for flat and even surfaces.

Sprinkler systems using rotor head types are more suitable for sloping areas. Rotor heads discharge less water volume in a short time. Thus, water is more evenly distributed and water run-off is avoided. Rotor heads are also more practical for larger areas of irrigation.

A more convenient type of irrigation installation is the automatic sprinkler system. An automatic system has four general parts – timer or controller, irrigation valves, underground piping, and sprinkler heads. Automatic sprinkler systems save you time and conserve water.

Automatic sprinkler systems also water plants more precisely by targeting the plant roots, which means you won’t have to replace your plants and turfs as often.

Make sure that your sprinkler installer uses the same sprinkler head types for all areas. Using different kinds of sprinkler head can result in uneven irrigation of your lawn and you may find certain portions over-watered just to get adequate irrigation for other areas.
