If you’re out to shop for a ping pong table, you will do well to consider certain factors before investing your money in the most expensive table you set your eyes on.

Remember that beginners don’t need expensive and high-end ping pong tables. There is a big chance that your first table will simply get worn out by you and/or your family while trying to learn the game. Once you’ve learned to play considerably well, then that’s the time when you should contemplate the more expensive Stiga table you’ve been eyeing in the beginning.

Know your type. Ping pong tables can take up substantial space. If you don’t have enough room in your place for a table tennis table, you should go for a compact or a foldable one. Compact tables are smaller than a regulation size table but can work well if you’re just playing table tennis for fun.

If you plan to practice for competition however, a foldable regulation size table is the thing for you. Foldable ping pong tables are especially designed to be easily put up or down when you want to use it but they don’t consume as much space as a permanently set table.

The thickness of the table top of a ping pong table significantly affects the price but has little difference when it comes to your playing performance. Most players want to play on 25mm thick table tops since they give a nice and even bounce. While the table top thickness matters a lot to a serious tournament player, a 19mm table top can conversely give you a nice ping pong game and hundreds of dollar savings at the same time.

Also, make sure that your table top is not warped. Check the table by leveling your eye with the table top and checking from all sides. A yard stick may come handy to check the level of your table. Warped tables considerably affect the bounce of the ball and thereby your game performance.

Finally, look for great legs. It is important for your Stiga table to have strong legs to support the games it will sustain in the years to come. Leg levelers are nice features to look for in your Stiga table especially if you have uneven floorings.
