Man's search for knowledge does not cease after stepping out of school. Education is a continuing quest for development. Continuing your education does not necessarily mean you have to enroll in an educational institution. Continuing your education takes on a wider context. Continuing education can also happen just by watching or listening to other experienced people.

Continuing education can be acquired in two ways. First, it can span your whole career lifetime. It is a deliberate and conscious process to acquire learning that is usually done in a formal institution. Second, continuing education can be acquired through training. It takes a shorter period of time to accomplish and only a specific and target skill is desired. It is taken to address a specific job requirement or function.

Professionals are especially keen on continuing education. Physical therapists are keen on continuing education physical therapy. Chiropractors are bent on chiropractic continuing education while occupational therapists are resolved to acquire occupational therapy continuing education. This also improves self-esteem and provides satisfaction of individual needs.

Why is there a need for continuing education? Learning accumulates and updates itself. It does not end nor decrease at one point in time unless you are stricken with an ailment. The older you get, the more learning you desire and acquire.

At work, employers even encourage continuing education by providing the funds necessary for their employees to pursue continuing education. Employers, hence, have turned out to become the most relevant source of funds for continuing education. Employers, later on, reap the benefits of having their employees pursue continuing education.

Researches have also shown that people especially professionals like doctors, engineers, or managers desire to acquire continuing education at some point in the time of their lives. This is being done to continue to be competitive with new knowledge coming in.
