Wireless technology has paved the way to more convenient choices such as prepaid phone service. If you don’t want the hassle of monthly bills, your cheaper option is to go for a prepaid phone service.

Cingular wireless prepaid service works just like the regular wireless plan service. Although in prepaid service, you pay the minutes in advance. Prepaid cards come in certain denominations so you may choose the amount that suits you. Your airtime cost is then deducted from your prepaid card balance every time you make a call or use any other service.

Cingular prepaid phone package comes with a special chip bearing the subscriber’s phone number and PIN number. You will need your PIN number to activate your account. To start with, you will have to access the network’s customer service number for the instructions on activating your prepaid account.

Once you have activated your prepaid phone account, you are now ready to load your account with a prepaid card having the airtime balance of your choice.

Prepaid phone cards have certain expiry periods though. You must use up your card load within the allowed period. Also note that your prepaid account expires in a certain assigned period after your last reload. Therefore, you should reload your account on a regular basis.

Cingular prepaid lets you monitor your account balance by sending you a text message of your remaining balance. However, there is no guarantee that you will be able to receive this text message regularly for some network limitation reasons. You may ask for your balance through their customer service number for free.

You may enjoy the same features in your prepaid phone as that of wireless plans. Among these are voice calls, text messaging, multi-media messaging, call forwarding and call waiting. But most of the time, prepaid service has higher rates on certain service than a wireless plan. Using prepaid phone is ideal if you have minimal need for wireless service or you want to closely monitor your wireless expense.
