THE SENSORY WORLD

The power of vision is very important, without which we will not be able to function normally in a highly visual world. While inroads have been made in making blind people adapt and flourish in modern society, there is no doubt that the power of vision is something that will be very difficult to lose once we have been used to seeing the world with our own eyes.

First of all the power of vision gives you a sense of control over your immediate environment. Being able to see the world around you gives you the ability to respond to it appropriately. The power of vision is a sensory power; it gives us the ability to interact with our environment and make the appropriate response depending on what we perceive.

SEEING BETTER AND LONGER

Modern technology has allowed us to hold on to our vision longer. We all know that as we age our sense of sight diminishes. Modern medical procedures such as lasik vision correction have allowed those with vision problems to correct their refractive errors and be able to see without corrective glasses or contact lenses.

Of course while Lasik vision correction has proven to be effective in correcting errors of refraction such as astigmatism and myopia, it cannot bring back the power of vision for those whose problems are more complicated than that. Errors of refraction can be corrected by Lasik because the problem lies in the shape of the lens which can be corrected by laser. For parts involving deeper eye structures, regaining the power of vision might not be possible at all given the current state of technology.

However, as man continues to make inroads in medical research and technology, it may be possible some time soon. The power of vision is that it is limited only by those who refuse to see possibilities.
