SPILL CONTROL
A spill pallet is used mostly for the handling and transport of liquid materials that may puncture and spill during shipping and handling.
A spill pallet may also be referred to as containment pallet. They are plastic pallets that catch spillage and allow the spilt contents to be returned to their original containers. Usually, a spill pallet carries drums, pails, and plastic bottles. When these containers get punctured for some reason or another, the spill pallet has a space to hold all the spilt contents which can be recollected and repacked to a new container.
The main value of a spill pallet is that you have a way of saving the valuable contents of your shipment. Imagine if you are shipping goods and they spilt, that would be catastrophic situation – a great loss in terms of your business revenues.
BUYING CAREFULLY
While a spill pallet may be more expensive than regular pallets, the benefits that you get from using them more than makes up for the cost. Because a spill pallet is especially designed to hold liquid materials, it allows you to gather them and pack them in a new container as if nothing happened. This allows you to salvage what would normally be considered as waste and still be able to profit from them.
Because a spill pallet is more expensive, you may want to buy used spill pallets to save on expenses. However, you have to be especially careful when buying second hand spill pallets. You have to double check if there are no cracks or punctures in the pallet. If in your desire to save money and then end up buying a spill pallet that does not hold the spilt material, then you might as well not have bought a spill pallet in the first place.
