Role of GSA

GSA business mainly includes handling acquisition and procurement requirements of federal agencies to facilitate delivery of service to the American public. Telecommunications, office equipment, supplies, and infrastructure technology are areas of GSA business undertakings.

MOBIS Program

Mission Oriented Business Integrated Services Program or MOBIS implements GSA business. It is where federal agencies submit requests for procurement or acquisition of materials or services needed for their respective operations. Consulting, facilitation, survey, training,and product supports, competitive are some of the services and products allowed for transaction under MOBIS program. These items are regularly part of the GSA business schedule of providing support to federal agencies. Federal agencies usually request to procure or acquire these items to help them effectively manage their operations.

Process of GSA Business

GSA business starts when it announces requests for procurement or acquisition of materials and services to accredited contractors of MOBIS who will consequently send their appropriate proposals to bid for the project. These contractors will reply to the quote requests of federal agencies based on the statement of work outlined for it.

The ordering office of GSA evaluates the quotes submitted by contractors and awards the contract with the appropriate contractors by issuing a task order prior to executing GSA contracts. GSA allows for electronic submission of Request for quotes and task orders to fast track transactions of federal government agencies. Service providers and contractors can easily exchange request for information and follow ups with the ability to electronically communicate request quotes and task orders.

Contractors

Contractors accredited under MOBIS program are screened to posses the necessary expertise to respond to the procurement needs of federal agencies. They undergo training on Federal mandates related to federal acquisition and procurements so that they are abreast with rules and regulations related to doing GSA business.
