Boat only charter, with captain and crewed charter are three types of charter yachts. People who want to charter yacht will choose either of these types according to their budgets and needs.

Boat Only Charter

Experienced sailors choose bare boat yacht charters since they can operate the yachts themselves without the assistance of a captain. However, to avail this type of charter they must provide proof of eligibility to sail the boat before yacht owners agree to a bare boat charter. Relevant national agency dealing with sailing certifications must certify the proof of eligibility. Usually a skipper certification issued to eligible sailors.

Chartering a bare boat requires you to be the sole in charge of its sailing operation. You will act as mechanic, skipper, dinghy driver and deckhand of the boat while sailing unless you have an equally qualified companion to charter the boat with you.

Captain Charter Yacht

You can charter a yacht with a captain to sail a bare boat. The captain can even show the ropes of chartering a yacht if you are not yet confident to sail it yourself. Hiring a captain to charter a bare boat requires additional cost for charter yacht. Make sure, though, that you get a well experienced and efficient captain to ensure safety navigation of the yacht.

Crewed Charter Yacht

Crewed charter yachts provide the full service of chartering yachts. You can hire the number of crews for a charter yacht. However, the cost will increase according to the number of crew you will include in a crewed charter yacht. Captain, skipper, mate, deckhand and cook are the crew members that you can include in a crewed charter. You can take advantage of these crew members by providing you services to learn on shore activities like scuba diving and fishing. Most of crew members provided by charter yacht companies are competent enough to teach you and your guests on any type of on shore activities.

The costs of these types of charter yachts will be lesser when you share the expenses with other people. Thus, it is better to charter a yacht with your friends or other members of your family who can share the expenses with you.
