When men lose their hair, they usually have three options. They can take the whole thing with stoic resignation; however, those who cannot stand the thought of going bald may wear a toupee, or undergo a hair transplant. But when you are a woman and you start losing hair, the trauma may be much greater than it is for men. It can provoke intense feelings of anxiety. Wigs are an option, but hair transplant clinics like Bosley offer another alternative.

The doctors of Bosley Medical hair restoration clinic say that there is great hope for the majority of women who suffer from hair loss. Bosley points out that female hair loss follows a different pattern than male loss. However, despite the difference they can be treated similarly. In recent years, women have considered surgical solutions.

Bosley comments that surgery becomes a very viable option when your hair loss is not yet complete, although significant portions of your hair may already have been affected. Some surgical options are laser hair transplants or ordinary hair transplants. Some women may opt for scalp lifting or, in some cases, scalp reduction.

In medical hair transplants, the surgeon takes normal, growing hair from a healthy spot on your head to one that doesn't have hair. The doctor will evaluate your hair to see if the prospects for success of a transplant will be good. Men never lose the hair at the back of their head, since it is not affected by DHT, the hormone that causes hair thinning. For this reason, the back is a rich donor area of transplantable hair.

Bosley notes, however, that in women the donor area is differently located, and may still suffer from thinning or falling hair. So, the doctor must check your head to see if there is still healthy hair available in sufficient numbers elsewhere.
