THE ROMANCE OF WOOD

In this day and age of advanced technology, most people still prefer the romance and beauty of wooden home. Somehow, wooden floors and furniture seem warmer to the household and more inviting to guests.

The good thing about modern technology is that it allows good things such as wood to be made even better. Nowadays, there are designs that allow for the use of fewer resources without sacrificing on the good looks and durability that wood is known for.

For wooden floors, among the newest design makes use of hardwood double glazing.
Hardwood double glazing makes use of two layers of materials, with a space in between for insulation or padding for a more quiet underfoot.

Usually, hardwood double glazing will have a layer of polished hardwood layer on top, some insulating layer of air below it, some padding next, and then fiber board or dense cork board for the bottom most layer.

GENIUS DESIGN

The genius of this design is that it uses less wood, but does not look any less beautiful. Hardwood double glazing does make use of a solid block of wood. Plus it has the additional benefit of sound insulation. This way, there will not be much noise when walking, and there is a softer underfoot which is friendlier on the foot. The layer of air on the other hand provides insulation from extremes in temperature. The trapped air keeps the floor cool during hot days, while keeping it warmer in the winter.

Of course hardwood double glazing may be more expensive than ordinary floors such as tiles and marble. Double glazing costs are not cheap. But the cost of hardwood double glazing is still cheaper than solid hardwood floors. If you can afford the solid hardwood, then go for hardwood double glazing, you can save on costs and save the environment as well.
