After you have decided in what room to put your new plasma television, the next thing you must determine is the exact place within that room where you should have your plasma TV mounted. This way, you would know the sizes and types of plasma TV set and plasma TV mounts to purchase.

Although a plasma TV mounted on the wall looks spectacular in various store displays and advertisements, it is not easy to install the appliance using a plasma TV mount above your fireplace, or on one of your walls. To hide the wires connected to your plasma TV, you would need to drill a hole in the wall behind the target location for your set, and another hole near the floor, and then you fish the power cords and other wiring down these holes.

In addition to the requirement that your plasma TV mount should be able to support the weight of your TV display, the wall area must also support both the TV and the plasma TV mount. It is essential that you locate the stud in your wall with a stud finder, to properly ascertain where to attach the plasma TV mount. The screws must go into the solid stud and not into the flimsy wallboard.

It is also not recommended to hang your plasma TV display too high up; instead, mount the unit at eye level to the seated viewer, or a little above eye level. Keep in mind that both the viewing distance and the proper viewing angle can make all the difference in creating a comfortable and enjoyable viewing experience.

If you think that you do not want to risk damaging your plasma TV set, or you find it too intimidating to install a plasma TV mount, then you may want to consider entrusting this job to a professional installer.
