Disabled People and Their Struggle for Equality

To be disabled means that part of your body cannot function the way it should, such as your limbs, senses or brain. There are many identified types of disabilities that either limit or deter you from performing daily physical or mental abilities.

Sadly, people with disabilities often find themselves victims of abuse, neglect or discrimination. Parents are dismayed when their child is born with a disability. Disabled people are slower to adapt to the environment, and often cannot meet the normal demands of school or work. Many end up being social outcasts because of their physical or mental deformities. Demands of job functions also compel companies to hire only people of normal health and capabilities, and this leaves the disabled out in the cold.

Arizona Center for Disability Law - New Hope for the Disadvantaged

The Arizona Center for Disability Law is a non-profit, non-government institution designated by the governor, which concerns itself with protecting the rights of disabled people to a happy, productive life.

The center receives funding from advocates of disability law, and provides legal services for clients who have suffered discrimination, abuse or neglect because of their disabilities.

Services of the Arizona Center for Disability Law

One of the center's services is providing information to its clients about their rights as disabled people.

The center also provides assistance to disabled people who wish to pursue lawsuits against violators of disability laws, by referring them to disability lawyers who act as representatives in court on behalf of the disabled. These disability lawyers will also expedite the lawsuit to ensure a speedy resolution and compensation for the plaintiffs.
