Do you have a business where you need to move pallets? Well, you will be interested to know more about pallet stackers and containment pallet.

Need a pallet stacker? What exactly are pallet stackers?

These are machines designed to lift and lower pallets. What are they not designed to do? To actually transport the pallets for more than a few feet. Instead pallet trucks do this job. They carry pallets over a distance to carry them to pallet stackers. Pallet stackers are really heavy – as much as 1000lbs. It all depends on the weight they are designed to lift. And this is their weight before they have lifted the loaded pallet! So you need to be careful around these machines and their activities. And this is the reason you can’t move them over distances – they are too awkward and heavy.

Remember – you shouldn’t use a pallet stacker to off-load trucks. The exception to this rule is if the dock height and truck bed height are equal. Pallet trucks are more efficient in this case. They also weigh much less (up to 250lbs). They are more maneuverable. What happens to a pallet stacker if it tries to negotiate the incline to horizontal surface break-over? It tends to get hung up on the straddle leg underside. This is especially the case when the stacker is used together with a dock and truck bed having different heights.

Pallet stackers operate on a cantilever principle. Accordingly the load weight is carried on the straddle legs below the forks. Effectively this means that if you want to load pallet racks, keep the level of the lowest beam high enough to permit the front wheels of the straddle legs to move under the beam. Usually this is about 6 inches from the underside of the first beam load to the floor.

What can you expect in a pallet stacker?
- massive construction which offers superior strength and durability
- dual lifting chains with a safety factor of 6:1
- heavy duty industrial battery with a charger built-in
- adjustable or fixed straddle legs – or pallet stackers which are non-straddle
- adjustable forks with an adjustable width
- flush steel platforms to lift loads, which are not palletized, as well as small boxes.
