With the increasing expensive lawsuits that are caused by indoor pollution in the workplace, providing an exhaust fan system in the work area of your company is the least that you can do to improve its indoor air quality, and avoid costly litigations. One of the exhaust systems that companies install in their work areas is the utilization of the roof exhaust fans.

There are two popular technologies of roof exhaust fans, namely centrifugal roof exhaust fans, and mixed-flow impeller roof exhaust fans, that you can choose from for the production area of your company.

Centrifugal

The centrifugal roof exhaust fans typically have a motor which is driven by a single belt. When centrifugal roof exhaust fans are operated, the air would enter directly into the revolving rotor. It will then exit at right angles of the blades' rotation. Centrifugal roof exhaust fans are categorized according to the shape and type of the blades used in the fan. These are forward-curved fan, backward-curved fan, radial fan and airfoil fan.

Centrifugal roof exhaust fans which are belt driven would need periodic maintenance. Make sure that the employees, or the roofing contractors, who are responsible in maintaining these fans wear proper protective and safety gears because they may be working on toxic fumes.

Mixed-Flow Impeller

Mixed-flow impeller roof exhaust fans used a dedicated, single and tall exhaust stacks. When you mount these stacks, you would need a costly hardware mount such as bases. Unlike belt-driven centrifugal roof exhaust fans, mixed-flow impeller fans require lesser maintenance because parts such as belts, and flex connectors are not components of the system.

If you want to lessen the noise that mixed-flow roof exhaust fans emit, and to minimize a substantial amount of energy for their operation, then you can attach some accessories to the fans.
