What is Motorcycle Stunt Riding?

Motorcycles are not just for transportation; they are now being used in performing stunts. In fact, motorcycle stunt shows draw large audiences because of the incredibly difficult and amazing tricks bikers can exhibit on their stunt bikes.

The idea of motorcycle stunt riding began many years ago, and stunts shows were held as part of circus acts or as separate occasions. It was only recently that motorcycle stunt shows developed into a street sport. Though motorcycle stunt riding on public roads is illegal, many bikers have chosen to participate in such venues.

Stunt bikers may even be hired to perform at parties and social events for a fee. The only thing required is that you must provide a large arena or track for the bikers to use.

Different Types of Motorcycle Stunts

Some motorcycle stunt shows are nothing more than drag races. As many as twenty bikers may compete in the race. Whoever crosses the finish line first will win.

Some motorcycle stunts involve going at extremely high speeds and then taking off in the air to jump over several stationary objects on the ground. To add suspense to the stunt, the objects that the biker needs to jump over may also be hazardous in themselves, and can come in the form of a huge bonfire, a deep lake, gallons of hot substances, or even wild animals. The biker has to be able to jump over the objects and then land on an inclined ramp at the other side safely.

Another stunt involves wheelies, or pulling up the stunt bike to balance only on its back wheel as the rider drives at high speed. To make this stunt more exciting, the rider may also maneuver the bike to rotate or to somersault, or may go around obstacles in its path.
