Background of the Milwaukee Brewers

Before the Milwaukee Brewers baseball club became a major league baseball team, there had been another team representing the state. The Milwaukee Braves brought the World Series title home when they defeated the New York Yankees in 1957.

After 1965, the Braves relocated to Atlanta, and efforts were made to find another team for Milwaukee. One of the minority owners of the Braves decided to form the Milwaukee Brewers baseball club to honor the state's beer tradition. The group hosted an exhibition game with two other major league teams in 1967 in order to demonstrate that Milwaukee Brewers deserves to be recognized for franchise by the National League.

However, no franchise was given at this point. But the team's owner set his sights on the then-franchised Seattle Pilots. The Pilots had had a bad season and were almost in the state of bankruptcy when they were bought out and moved to Milwaukee.

The new team's performance was not impressive at first, until around 1978 when the team won third place. So far, they have not won any World Series title, though they had come close a few times.

After a change of ownership in 2005, the team became more competitive but once again their performance faltered. However, the team made waves when two individual team members made waves as MVP and rookie of the year.

The Brewers have yet to achieve a World Series title, but fans are enthusiastic that they will in the near future. Brewers games have always held great excitement for baseball fans.
