What is T in the Park?

Named after its organizer, the Tennents Brewing Company, T in the Park is an annual concert event held on the second weekend of July in Scotland. A typical T in the Park festival lasts over a weekend. T in the Park features music acts from different types of performers, from newcomers to the most popular recording artists. Music genres are also quite varied, with a mix of pop, rock, jazz, R&B and alternative styles playing at different times of day. Older bands from past four decades also play alternately with younger bands.

The venue is an empty, disused airfield which affords enough space for a stage and a huge audience. Participants of the festival usually stay for the entire three-day weekend, so they usually bring cars, trailers or campers.

Organizers provide the toilets, and there are vendors around the vicinity who sell snacks to the audience. There are usually several makeshift tents or stages, with each tent featuring between eight to ten acts each day.

Each T in the Park festival has been immensely successful, usually with sold-out tickets. While the audience and performers have been peaceful and harmonious for the most part, there were some incidences of riots during T in the Park 2005.

Buying T in the Park Tickets

There is one official ticketing agency that sells T in the Park Tickets online. You can buy your tickets at its outlets, or you can call up their contact number to reserve and order tickets. But you will not receive your T in the Park tickets until a couple of weeks before the event.

Because of the immense popularity of the event, T in the Park tickets usually get sold out weeks beforehand. To prevent misuse of tickets, the agency issues the tickets already labeled with names of people who have ordered them.

You should also specify whether you need to park or camp in the vicinity, so that your vehicle will be allowed to enter. If you need the camping facilities, you have to purchase camping tickets.

Other Tips for T in the Park Visitors

Reserve tickets for the event early, at least a few weeks prior to the July weekend. This will allow any exchanges and correction of errors regarding your ticket.

To make sure you get good parking, also go early to the venue. This will also prevent hassles from traffic and from competing with other parties for parking space.

You may want to consider bringing provisions such as snacks, water and toiletries, as it may be inconvenient to drive in and out of the area. Definitely bring sufficient clothing for both warm and cold temperatures, so that you can enjoy the performances at almost any time of day.
