If you're have DSL, chances are you are using a moder/router with a built in DHCP server. This means your modem/router generates IP addresses and can be used with multiple computers. Some modem/routers only have one ethernet port though. In this case you will have to dsl bridge your modem.

To DSL bridge your modem means to turn of the DHCP server so that it doesn't generate IP addresses. You can then connect another router to the modem/router. The router will generate the IP addresses for all the computers and network equipment instead of the modem/router issued by the internet service provider. You will have to ethernet bridge the modem/router provided by your internet service provider.

Networking your computers will let you save time is more convenient. You can access all your files from a central location if all your computers are networked. If you want to use wireless connection, you will have to use a wireless router again connected to a dsl bridge modem also called ethernet bridge.

Having networked computers at home can be very convenient for you. If you have a wireless router connected to a dsl bridge and a wi-fi enabled laptop, you can go online practically anywhere within the radius of your wireless dsl bridge network.

Networking using a dsl bridge will also let you use the same ethernet bridge connection for multiple computers saving you costs on internet service provider charges. Setting up a home network is not that hard if you know the correct procedure and if you know a little about computers.

A wireless connection using a dsl bridge will let you surf while on the porch sipping piņa collada while soaking under the sun. Or you can be in the bedroom lying flat on your belly surfing without the hassle of cables. All these you can do if you set up your modem/router in dsl bridge mode to connect a wireless router.
