Highlights of the Toronto Boat Show

If you are into sailing or enjoy boat cruises, you should make a point to visit the Toronto Boat Show. It is an annual nine-day event held in January at the Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place in Toronto. The main purpose of the event is to spur interest in boating and other related water sports.

For more than fifty years now, the Toronto Boat Show has been exhibiting more than a thousand different types of boats. There are also booths that sell boating accessories, engines, and other related items. Exhibitors include American and Canadian boating companies.

You can buy your own boat and immediately get financing and insurance all in one roof. And you can already get the accessories you want for the boat because there are so many booths to shop at.

Not Just Boats and Merchandise

If you are not interested in buying boats or accessories, you can still enjoy the event. The most amazing thing about the Toronto Boat Show is that its venue is at an indoor man-made lake.

The show features a wide variety of activities on the lake for every age and level. There are demonstrations for wake-boarding, kayaking, water-skating, sailing and canoing. You can actually learn a waters sport on the spot as you participate in the events. You can try wacky activities like wake-boarding, or go for tamer ones like operating a boat by remote control.

The Toronto Boat Show also educates you in boating and fishing skills with its seminars and hands-on instruction from boating experts.

Getting There and Getting in

There are many ways to get to the Toronto Boat Show. If you're a local Canadian resident, you can easily drive to the area or take a bus, subway or train. The website can give you specific directions on how to get to the show.

People of all ages are welcome to attend the show. Admission is about fifteen dollars per adult, a little less for senior citizens, and free for children under sixteen years of age. The only condition for children under sixteen is that they must be with an adult.
